Romare Bearden Artwork

During Black History Month the 3rd Grade class spent a couple weeks learning about Romare Bearden, a famous African American Artist. Bearden is known for making collages out of books, magazines and newspapers, and most of his artwork had musical themes. Students worked hard to create their own collages, and each collage has a musical theme. When we finished our artwork, we took time to write letters to Romare Bearden, imagining what we would like to ask him about his life, love of music, etc. I'm proud of my 3rd Grade artists!

More Straw Paintings!

Here are the finished products from the 2nd Grade Straw-Blown Paintings! Students framed their artwork with unique shapes cut from tissue paper. Awesome job!

Diversity Drawings

First graders used our new, "Multicultural", markers to create these pieces of artwork. At MMLA, we love DIVERSITY!!

Straw-Blown Trees

I posted a few pictures of 4th Graders using straws to paint trees, and I thought I should show you the finished products! Students used tissue paper for leaves, and the results were beautiful!

5th Grade Update

5th graders have been busy in Art! Here are a few pictures of Calendar Art and Coat of Arms projects. We used donated calendar pages, cut them in half, and tried to replicate one part of the picture. They look really great, and I am proud of the way that students paid attention to detail. Wonderful work!
